2019 STAR Longest Table

The Longest Table is a public discourse platform based on a very simple concept:  dinner and a conversation.  Communities across the nation have invited residents, elected officials and community stakeholders to engage in a civil conversation about their community, breaking down barriers and forging new partnerships in an effort to make their community an even better place to live.

The City of Champaign held very first longest table event on August 12, 2019.  The STAR Longest Table hosted 185 attendees at the City View Banquet Center.  View the post-event report at the link below.

Be sure to check back for information on future opportunities to continue the conversation!

We look forward to offering more volunteer opportunities at future longest table engagement events.  Be sure to check back here as those events are announced.

Thank you to everyone who completed our post-event survey.  We have compiled a report highlighting our take-a-ways from the first ever city-wide longest table event.  Attached to the end of the report are summaries of comments gathered from the post-event staff and volunteer debrief, as well as the post-event participant survey.  We will utilize the responses to determine how to plan future community engagement events.
